Add to plan
Every item a display plays was added through one three-step wizard: pick a widget type, pick or create the content, set when and how long it shows. The wizard is the same on a display page, a channel page and a playlist page; only the button and the last step's label differ.
Where the button is
| Page | Button | What the item lands on |
|---|---|---|
| Display page | + Add to plan in the Scheduled plan card | The display's own plan. While the display follows a shared channel the button is not there; add to the channel instead. |
| Channel page | + Add to plan | The channel, and so every display following it. |
| Playlist page | + Add to playlist | The playlist. Playlists cannot contain other playlists. |
On a layout with more than one section, pick the section in the plan card's header first. Each section has its own plan. See Split screen & layouts.
The wizard
The dialog has the content on the left and a rail on the right: a preview of what you have chosen, a summary that fills in as you go, and the action button. The kicker reads ADD TO PLAN (or ADD TO PLAYLIST) and three bars show which step you are on.
Choose a widget
Tiles grouped under four headings, with a Search widgets field above. Clicking a tile moves straight on to the next step.
| Group | Widget types |
|---|---|
| MEDIA | Image, Video, YouTube, Vimeo, Playlist, PDF, Canvas |
| DATA & DOCUMENTS | Google Slides, Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Power BI, Date & Time |
| FEEDS | News, RSS Feed, Ticker, Weather |
| WEB & SCREEN | Website, TV, and the full-screen-only Display status |

Display status needs the Business plan; on the Standard plan the tile is locked with the tooltip Available on the Business plan. It is only offered when the section fills the whole display. What each type does is in the Widget catalog.

Select your media or widget
The title reads Select your media for Image and Video and Select your widget for everything else. You see the existing items of that type, 20 to a page, with a Search for name or title field.
- Click one item and the wizard moves on.
- Select multiple lets you tick several. The button becomes Continue (n) and every item gets the same schedule. Handy for a folder of images.
- Upload new media (Image, Video) uploads a file and selects it. Create new widget (the other types) opens the widget's form; Save creates it and selects it. Neither is offered for Playlist and Canvas, which are built on their own pages.
- Images and videos show your folders as chips. Step into one and the chips change to Return back plus the folder's name.

Set the schedule
When should it show: Always show or Scheduled. Then the Duration in seconds and, for images, videos and canvases, how the item is fitted to the section. Every option is explained in Scheduling.

The rail now reads the answers back as Widget, Media or Widget name, Shows, Dates and Duration, in the same words that will appear in the plan row. A Take over switch sits under the summary; see below.
Press Add to plan (or Add to playlist).
After adding
The item appears as a row in the plan with a preview, its name, a type badge, the schedule column and the duration. Nothing is on the display yet: the row is a draft until you press Publish changes in the page header. See Publishing changes.
Each row has an Edit button, which opens the same schedule step for that item, and a Remove button, which asks you to confirm Remove widget from schedule. Drag rows to change the order they play in.

Take over
Switch on Take over in the last step and the item plays on its own whenever its schedule is active; everything else in the section waits. Use it for a closing announcement or a fire-drill notice. When the take-over window ends, the section returns to its normal rotation.
Adding a video to a section while another section already has one shows Video warning: videos in several sections at once can behave unexpectedly on some devices. You can continue.
