Playlists

A playlist is an ordered run of content you build once and drop into any plan as a single item. Ten seasonal promotions become one row on the channel, and updating the playlist updates every channel that plays it.

The Playlists page

The usual collection controls: an Orientation filter, Search, All / Archived, Grid view / List view, Add playlist, Select all playlists and Results per page. Like channels, playlists have no online state; the only pill is Unpublished. An empty page reads No playlists yet.

Add a playlist

Press Add playlist and fill in Name, Orientation and Notes. A playlist is authored for one orientation and is only offered to plans of that orientation.

The playlist page

• The header has Edit and Publish changes.
• The Preview card plays the playlist through.
• The details card shows Active on N displays · M online, Orientation, First published and Last published, then notes and tags.
• The item list works like a plan: press + Add to playlist to add an item, drag rows to reorder, Edit a row's schedule or duration, Remove it. An empty list reads Playlist is empty.

+ Add to playlist opens the same wizard as + Add to plan, without the Playlist tile: a playlist cannot contain another playlist. See Add to plan.

Edit opens Edit playlist with Name, Orientation and Notes. Items are drafts until you press Publish changes.

Put a playlist on a plan

1. On a display or channel page press + Add to plan.
2. Choose Playlist under MEDIA.
3. Pick the playlist. Only playlists of the plan's orientation are listed.
4. Set the schedule for the playlist as a whole and press Add to plan.
5. Press Publish changes.

The plan shows the playlist as one row with a Playlist badge and a duration summed from its items, and lists the items nested underneath. The nested rows have no buttons of their own: a playlist is edited on its playlist page.

Schedules inside and outside

A playlist item can have a schedule of its own, and the playlist row on the plan has one too. An item plays only when both are satisfied. A promotion scheduled 08:00 to 12:00 inside a playlist that the plan shows 10:00 to 18:00 plays from 10:00 to 12:00. If the two never overlap, the item never plays.

Publishing a playlist

Publish changes on the playlist page updates every channel and display that plays it, at once. The Active on line says how many. See Publishing changes.
