Connect a display
A display in the portal is connected to a physical device from the display page. Every platform connects the same way: the Signital player on the device shows a 5-character pairing code and a QR code. Either type the code into the Connect display dialog in the portal, or scan the QR code with your phone and tap the display. This page has the full steps once; each player guide tells you how to install the player on its platform and then points here.
Before you start
- The device is on, connected to the network and running the Signital player, so it shows a pairing code. If the player is not installed yet, the Player guides cover each platform, and the Connect display dialog has the same links under Player not installed yet?.
- For the typed route, the display exists in the portal. If not, go to Displays, press Add display and save it. See Displays. The scanned route can create the display for you.
What the device shows
A device that is not connected shows the pairing code as five large tiles, a QR code, and three steps: open signital.app, create or pick a display, choose Connect and enter the code. The code mixes letters and digits. There is no letter O and no digit 0, so what looks like one is the other. A device left waiting gets a new code every 45 minutes, and the QR code changes with it.
Two ways to connect
Open the display's page from Displays and press Connect in the header. If the display is already online and you are moving it to new hardware, open Controls and choose Reconnect instead.
The dialog is titled Connect followed by the display's name, and opens on Enter pairing code: five cells, with the cursor already in the first one. There is no platform to pick and no button to press.

Type the code from the device, or paste it. The fifth character submits it. Within a few seconds the device leaves the pairing code and shows content, the dialog closes, and the pill in the display page header turns Online.
If the code is refused, the cells turn red and clear, and a message under them says why. See If pairing does not work.
The Device details card also shows a Pairing code while the display is offline. That is the display's own code in the portal, not the code you type. The code you type always comes from the device.
Player not installed yet?
Under the code cells the dialog has a collapsed section, Player not installed yet?. Open it and pick the platform: Web browser, Android, Amazon Fire TV, BrightSign, Raspberry Pi, Samsung Tizen or LG TV. Each panel says how to get the player onto the device and links to its full guide here.

| Platform | What the panel offers | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Web browser | The address to open on the device, signital.tv, with a Copy button | Web browser |
| Android | Play Store, and Download .apk for devices without it | Android |
| Amazon Fire TV | Amazon Appstore | Amazon Fire TV |
| BrightSign | Download setup files | BrightSign |
| Raspberry Pi | Download .zip, always the newest Signital image | Raspberry Pi |
| Samsung Tizen | Store search instructions | Samsung Tizen |
| LG TV | LG Content Store search instructions | LG TV |
Installing and connecting are separate jobs. Whatever you install, the player shows a pairing code, and that code goes into the cells above.
After connecting
The Device details card replaces the Pairing code with the Channel the display follows and fills in Resolution, Connected with, the player version and operating system, IP address and Last connection. The Online pill in the header means the device has checked in within the last minute or two. See Displays.
Reconnect and Disconnect
Both live under Controls in the display page header once the display is online.

- Reconnect opens the same Connect display dialog. Use it to move a display to a new device: type the code the new device shows, or scan its QR code. The old device is sent back to the pairing code once the new one connects.
- Disconnect asks you to confirm Disconnect Display. The device returns to the pairing code and the display waits for a new connection. The display itself, its plan and its history stay in the portal.
Deleting a display is a different action, on the display page under Edit. It archives the display, and a device still bound to it shows the pairing code.
If pairing does not work
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| That code did not work. Check the display and try the code it shows now. | The code has changed, was already used, or a character was misread | Read the code off the device again. Check O against 0. A device that has waited a while shows a new code. |
| The display showing that code is on an IP address this display is not allowed to connect from. | The workspace has an IP allow list | Add the device's network to Settings › General › Delivery, or clear the list, and try again. |
| On the phone: This code has expired or This code has already been used | The device's code changed, or the page was opened a second time | Restart the Signital player on the device for a new code and scan it again. |
| On the phone: We don't recognise this code | The QR code was not read correctly | Scan it again, closer to the display. |
| The device stays on the code after the dialog closes | The device lost its network | Check the device's connection. |
| The display page says Online but the device shows nothing | Nothing is published to it | Add content and press Publish changes. See Publishing changes. |
