Signital Assistant

Signital Assistant

Signital Assistant is the help built into the portal. Ask it how something works, or about your own workspace: why the lobby display is offline, what plays on the menu board on Saturday, how to show a playlist only on weekdays. It answers from these docs and from what it can see in your workspace, and links to the pages it used.

It can also do the work for you. It drafts changes on its own, but anything that reaches a display waits for your click.

To work with Signital from an AI app you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, see Connect AI apps (MCP) instead.

Open the assistant

Press Signital Assistant in the sidebar, or press ? anywhere in the portal. Esc closes it, and F6 moves between the page and the assistant.

It opens docked beside the sidebar, which folds to its icons to make room. From the assistant's header you can:

  • Pop out to a window floating over the page. Drag it by the header and resize it from any corner, or move it with the arrow keys and resize with Alt and the arrow keys. Drop it on the sidebar to dock it again, or press Dock to sidebar.
  • Open in new window to keep it on top of other windows while you work elsewhere. Only in Chrome and Edge. Closing that window closes the assistant; Back to tab returns it to the page.

On a narrow browser window the assistant only floats, and on a phone it fills the page, opened from the top bar. It keeps your unsent question when you move between pages.

Ask a question

Type in Ask anything about Signital and press Enter, or pick one of the Suggested questions. The answer streams in, with links to the help pages it used. When it looked at one of your displays, a card under the answer shows it, with Open display.

  • Ask a follow-up continues the same conversation. A conversation holds 10 questions; after that, start a new one with New conversation.
  • Past conversations, the clock button in the header, lists your earlier conversations to read or continue.
  • Rate an answer with the thumbs under it. Not helpful asks What was off?: Wrong, Didn't answer my question or Out of date.

AI answers can be wrong. The assistant links to the help pages it used, so check those before acting on something important.

What it can see

The assistant sees what you can see, with your role, in the workspace you have open: displays and their status, channels, playlists, media, widgets and locations. It does not see other workspaces you belong to until you switch to them. It does not see how Signital is built and will not discuss it.

Let it make changes

Ask in plain language: make a Weather widget for Berlin, add it to the reception channel from 8:00 to 12:00 on weekdays, rename the new displays. The assistant works the way you would in the portal.

  • Drafts and the library change straight away: new widgets, playlists and channels, items added to or moved in a draft, schedules, names, tags and folders. None of it is on a display until it is published, so the assistant tells you what it drafted.
  • Reload and Identify on a display happen straight away too. They do not change what it shows.
  • Publishing and rebooting a display reach a display at once, so the assistant asks first with a Proposed change card.

What it can change follows your role, as in the portal: a Viewer can ask questions but not change anything, and creating a location needs the Admin role.

Approve a proposed change

The card lists What changes and the displays it reaches, each marked online or offline. An offline display updates when it reconnects. Nothing happens until you approve:

  1. Tick the box that confirms what will happen.
  2. Press the button, which names what it does, for example Publish to 3 screens or Restart 1 screen.

Don't change declines, and nothing is published. Show me how to do it myself declines and asks the assistant for the steps instead.

  • A card waits 10 minutes. After that it expires with nothing changed; press Prepare it again for a fresh one.
  • If the draft or the displays change while the card is open, it shows This change was updated, review again, and you approve the new version.
  • Once approved, the card shows how many displays were updated.

Contact support from the assistant

When the assistant cannot help, it offers Open a support ticket under its answer. Contact support is also there when you reach a limit.

The message is Drafted by the assistant. Edit anything. Change it as you like, and press See what support receives to read exactly what is sent. Support gets your message, the conversation and the page you were on, and replies by email, usually within one working day. The conversation then shows the ticket number. One conversation opens one ticket; for a different problem, start a new conversation.

If the ticket cannot be sent, the assistant shows support's email address with Copy my message, so you can email support@signital.com yourself.
