Layouts
A layout divides a display into sections, each playing its own content: a menu on the left and a video on the right, or a footer ticker under a full-width main area. Signital ships a set of stock layouts; on the Business plan you can build your own here, at Settings › Layouts.
Available on the Business plan. On Standard the page lists your layouts, but New Layout and every card open Custom layouts is a Business feature with the line "Upgrade to the Business plan to create and edit custom layouts." and an Upgrade button that goes to Plan & Billing.
Where layouts are used
A layout is applied to a channel, or to a display's own plan, with the Split screen button. The chooser offers the stock layouts and, on the Business plan, a Custom layouts group once you have made at least one. See Split screen & layouts.
Create a layout
Start a new layout
Press New Layout. A layout is created and the Layout Editor opens on it.
Name it and pick the display size
- Layout name, the name you will pick in the Split screen chooser.
- Screen size, the aspect ratio you are designing for: Landscape 21:9 (1920x840), Landscape 16:9 (1920x1080), Landscape 4:3 (1920x1440), Portrait 9:21 (840x1920), Portrait 9:16 (1080x1920), Portrait 3:4 (1440x1920) or Custom screen size, which adds Width and Height fields.
- Available as landscape and Available as portrait decide which displays can pick this layout. Turn both off and the editor warns This layout is not available on any display orientation.
Lay out the sections
Press Add section for each area. Sections are named Section 1, Section 2 and so on, and the buttons above the canvas select one. Drag a section to move it and drag its edges to resize. Press the Delete key to remove the selected section.
Save
Press Save. A toast confirms Successfully saved!
Edit a layout that is in use
Open a layout from its card, change it and press Save. Every channel and display using the layout takes the new arrangement. If any do, a Save layout dialog lists them by name, as Channel or Display, and notes that those displays may need a restart before they show the change.
Resizing or removing a section changes every channel that uses the layout. Content in a removed section is no longer shown. Check the list in the Save layout dialog before you press Ok.
Delete a layout
Delete layout sits at the bottom of the editor's settings. It asks Delete layout for confirmation. If the layout is still in use, the dialog instead lists the channels and displays using it and asks you to change their layout first; the delete is blocked until none use it.
If your workspace moves from Business to Standard, channels keep playing with the custom layouts they have. What stops is editing them and creating new ones. See Plan & Billing.
