Locations

Locations

A location is a site your displays are at: a shop, a lobby, a floor. Displays assigned to one are grouped together on the Dashboard and Live Overview, follow its time zone, and can hand its coordinates to the Weather widget. Open the list at Settings › Locations.

The Locations settings page listing locations with their time zone and number of displays, and an Add location button in the header.

What a location does

Used byEffect
Dashboard and Live OverviewDisplays are grouped under their location, with a health bar per location. Displays without one sit in their own group.
SchedulesA display in a location follows the location's Timezone. The lunch menu set for 11 to 14 shows at 11 local time, not 11 in the workspace's zone.
Weather widgetWith Use display location switched on, the widget shows the weather for the display's location instead of a city you type in. See Widget catalog.
Displays pageThe list can be filtered by location, and the Displays column here links to that filter.

Add a location

Open the dialog

Press Add location. The Add Location dialog opens.

The Add Location dialog with the Name, Address and Timezone fields.

Fill in the three fields

  • Name, the way your team refers to the site.
  • Address. Start typing and pick the match. The address places a pin, and it is the pin's coordinates that the Weather widget uses.
  • Timezone, prefilled with the workspace time zone from General. Change it if the site is somewhere else.

Save

Press Save. The location appears in the list, and in the Location field of the Add Display and Edit Display dialogs.

Assign displays to it

A location does nothing until displays are in it. Set Location when you add a display, or later from the display page with Edit. See Displays.

Edit, delete and restore

Each row has Edit and Delete.

  • Edit opens the same three fields.
  • Delete asks Deleting location with the location's name. The displays in it are not deleted and keep playing; give them a new Location from their display page.
  • Switch the filter from All to Archived to see deleted locations. Restore puts one back.

A deleted location is archived, not destroyed, so a mistaken Delete is undone with Restore.
