Split screen & layouts
A layout divides a display into sections, and every section has a plan of its own. A menu board can run a video on the left with a scrolling ticker underneath; a lobby can show the calendar beside the weather. Split screen is how you pick the layout.
Pick a layout
Press Split screen on the preview card of a channel page, or of a display page while the display plays its own plan. The dialog's kicker reads Split screen and its title Choose channel layout. It shows only layouts for the plan's orientation, with the current one outlined.
The stock layouts:

On the Business plan, layouts you have drawn yourself appear under Custom layouts at the bottom of the dialog, once you have made at least one. See Layouts.
Choosing a different layout empties the plan. The dialog warns All content will be removed before it does. Pick the layout first, then add content. The layout change is itself a draft until you press Publish changes.
Fill each section
With more than one section, the Scheduled plan card gains a section picker in its header. It lists the sections by name with their size in pixels. Pick a section, then + Add to plan adds to that section only; switch sections to fill the next one.
Each section runs its own rotation and its own schedule, so a footer ticker can stay up all day while the main area changes every ten seconds. Two rules apply:
- Display status is only offered in a section that fills the whole display.
- Adding a video to a second section shows Video warning: videos in several sections at once can behave unexpectedly. You can continue.
The preview card renders every section in place. When you build content for one section, the widget page's preview can be set to that layout and section, so you see the widget at the size it will really have. See Widgets.
Portrait displays
Layouts are orientation-specific. A portrait channel is offered the stock layouts that support portrait, and the preview shows them upright.
Make your own layout
On the Business plan, Settings › Layouts has a Layout Editor for drawing sections of any size. Layouts made there appear under Custom layouts in the Split screen dialog. Editing a layout that channels already use changes every one of them. See Layouts.
